Make the most of your stay.
Make the most out of you stay in the Marlborough area.
The following attractions and activities are available to you and
are recommended by the locals .

Marlborough is the land of fine wines and food.  There are lofty mountains, lovely blue oceans and rivers, crystal clear lakes along with wide open spaves and beautiful beaches.  The climate of this region makes it the ideal place to visit at any time of the year.  The warmth and hospitality of the people will never be forgotten, encouraging you to return again and again.

PICTON:
-The ideal way to arrive in this region is by the ferry that gives you breathtaking scenery as you approach the South Island and then cruise into Tory Channel and down Queen Charlotte Sound before docking at Picton.  The silence and charm of the Sound nestled amongst the mountains is something not to be missed.
- Many water based activities can be enjoyed from the shores of Picton as well as some lesuirly walks around the small but picturesque settlement.

HAVELOCK:
-This town is at the head of Pelorus Sound.  It used to be a thriving gold-mining town but now has a booming green lip mussel industry.
- A short trip will take you through to Pelorus and some fantastic walking tracks.  Kayaking and other river activities can be found here.

BLENHEIM:
-Blenheim is the largest town of the region and has a real market place atmosphere which entices you to explore.
- There is an ever increasing number of vineyards in the area and many wine tours and tastings are available.  The annual Malborough Wine and Food Festival takes place on the second weekend in February each year.
- Take a horse and gig ride aroung the town and see things at a relaxed pace.

WAIRAU VALLEY:
- Down state highway 63 you can follow the valley and the river until it meets the mountains.  Here there is some great snow skiing to be had on the St Arnaud Range.  In summer this same area has some of the best recreational tramping that there is to be found.  Mountain Lakes and fast flowing rivers add to the experience.

KAIKOURA:
- Along the coast on the way to Kaikoura, some rolling sand dunes covered with toi toi and tussock, along with cabbage trees cover this rugged landscape.
- Colonies of fur seals are dotted all the way along the coast,  and the road gives ample places to pull over and offers excellent vantage points to view the seals.
- At Kaikoura, the whale watching capital of the world,  you can find places that will take you out to see the whales either by air or by boat.
